'Tis the season for gratitude

Practice gratitude to improve your health.

Do you have a gratitude practice? We're coming off of Thanksgiving and diving into the (sometimes stressful) holiday rush, so what better time to talk gratitude? By gratitude practice, I mean taking the time on a regular basis to contemplate, acknowledge, and express gratitude for all of the things you love and appreciate in and about your life. But it can look a little different for everybody! Some people simply think these thoughts in their head, others like to write them down in a gratitude journal, while still others prefer a more formal meditation. Pick whichever mode you'll be able to incorporate into your daily life. Start during this week of being thankful, but keep it in your routine as we continue through the year. Why practice gratitude? If for no other reason, I urge you to try this as a stress reduction activity. It is very difficult to feel stressed when you focus on all of the beautiful things going right in your life! Your brain simply isn't wired to experience stress, fear, jealousy, etc. while being grateful.
